The weather patrol had been very busy as of late. There were still a great deal of clouds that were filled to the brim with snow that had to be disposed of before the Winter Wrap-up began. For Ponyville that sadly meant that there would be some very cold days. Fluttershy had ushered all of her animal companions into her home and made certain that they were comfortable. The snow was very deep and clearing the snow out of the burrows would be hard. The Pegasus pony had left her animals in her warm little cottage with plenty of food to eat. She would have stayed in as well had she forgotten a few books she had checked out of Ponyville’s library. She had been snuggling on her couch with her sparrow on her mane and a squirrel curled up between her forelegs. Fluttershy had been getting ready for a nice nap however she was rudely awakened by Angel.
Angel had tossed a book directly at her head. She squeaked loudly and her cyan eyes squeezed shut. Opening up her eyes again she saw her little Angel tap his foot on the ground and then motion at the book. Oh dear! It was going to be overdue! Fluttershy would have turned it in earlier but she was so busy preparing for spring, she glanced out at the window. Which seemed farther and farther away. She smiled, “Thank you Angel, I almost forgot. You’re so sweet to remind me.” she slipped off her couch and grabbed her scarf which was hanging buy the door. Holding one end in her mouth she heard her cardinal whistle and pick up the other end to wrap it around her neck. “Oh thank you,” how sweet of him! She slipped on her saddlebags and swished her tail. Trotting back over to the couch she picked up the book in her mouth she plopped it into the bag and then tried to remember if there was anything else she needed.
Fluttershy only had one book to return, it was Soulfull Soups she had made some winter themed soups over the past few days and she realized she should bring some over for Twilight! Sweet Split Pea Soup was one of her most recent dishes but earlier she had made her and Angel winter Vegetables and Squash soups which he seemed to enjoy she did as well. Ah! She had some left, Fluttershy had put the remainder in a large glass jar and she grabbed it before placing it gingerly in her saddlebag.
“All right friends,” the pony smiled. “I’m going out for a little out but-but all of you stay put it’s awfully cold out there.” Trotting up to the door she watched Angel open up the door and a gust of ice cold wing greeted her blowing back at her rosy mane. She raced out and heard the door slam behind her. Oh, she hoped they wouldn’t be too cold. The snow was halfway up to her knees!
It was far too gusty for her to fly and she sighed as she trudged through the snow. One of the drawbacks form living outside of Ponyville had to have been the walk. It had taken her while but she finally made it to the library. Shivering profusely she lifted up her hoof and knocked on the door.
