Star was super happy that she was chosen to lead the Plant team. She loved plants, she always had, so it made her overly happy. She smiled at all the ponies in front of her, she was happy to see the turn out. 'Okay, let's get to work.' She said with a smile. She was a natural born leader ( or so she things). 'I'm going to start off listing names, and then I'll tell you you're duties just to make sure everyone is here and they know what they're doing' she began. 'Okay, so on the snow plowing team we have; Big Macintosh, Limelight and Blizzard, if you're all here please let me know so I can mark you guys down.' she said feeling over powered, the fact of the matter was that she just wanted to be organized, and make sure everypony was doing their duty.'On the seed planting team we have; Page and Apple Jack, please let me know you guys are here as well' she paused for a breath 'And lastly I am the plant tender' she said with a smile.
'I am more than willing to help you guys out if you need anything, and if you all finish early don't mind helping out with other plant team tasks! Let's make this the best winter wrap up ever!' she said with a huge grin.

Though Blizzard was small, she had always been a pretty good plower. She was strong for her size and determined when it came to feats of strength and looked forward to being able to show this off every year.
She didn't really like the team captain because she thought she was annoying, but she supposed she had to check in and so walked over.
"I'm here."

Star smiled at the not so polite pony. She didn't really like ponies who weren't happy about their duties, so she just ignored her. She was lucky that the list had the ponies pictures right next to their names, otherwise she would have had no idea who this pony was. 'Nice to meet you Blizzard' she said with a smile. 'I'm Star Charmer'.
She took in a deep breath, hopefully everpony won't be like this one, she sighed with the thought. She wanted to at least have a few nice ones on her team. 'Now...' she said, 'Who else is here?' She said smiling.

Page was a bit nervous. She always was when Winter Wrap Up came around. She didn't want to mess it up and hurt the seeds. But she managed to grow the seeds in the garden pretty well and she had never hurt the seeds of Winter Wrap Up before.
Now she needed to check in. "Um.. Page Scribbles? Seed Planter?"

Coming from the renowned Sweet Apple Acres farm, Applejack usually led the plant team. This year, however, she figured she should give somepony else a chance to 'shine' and to do some more work she was used to.
She trotted up and stood beside Page, "Applejack, Seed Plantin'. I'm-a here!"

Winter-Wrap Up, the time of year where all the ponies of Ponyville got together to help clean up winter and welcome the spring in. A longstanding tradition of hard work the “Earth Pony” way, but it was apparently rather disorganized most of the years, and even with the new organizer it took hours to get everything done. Time was bits, and more importantly, less time spent relaxing and having fun (that encouraged people to buy stuff of course). Wanting to help correct this unnecessary waste of time, the Flim-Flam Brothers had come up with a wonderful idea. Taking their patented Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, they attached a giant snow plow to the front of it to turn it into the Super Speedy Snow Plower 6000.
This was why Flim was now approaching the Planting Team with the sounds of steam and machinery as he drove up to the meeting point with his machine. Flam was off somewhere else, so it was up to just him to sell off the whole thing to the ponies. Sadly that meant no dance and song routine, but whatever. Hopefully the promise of faster plowing and more freetime to play around with might be able to convince them to join in on the future.
”Good morning everpony. As you can see I’ve come offering a brand new never before seen invention that I guarantee will help speed up the process of Winter-Wrap up, giving you all more time to enjoy the changing of the season instead of having to work all day.”

Blizzard was too busy sulking at the fact that there was nopony she cared about to pay attention the other ponies arriving, but the giant piece of machinery caught her eye and she turned, drawing her eyebrows together.
"The change of the season is the work we do," she said, lowering her head and just barely keeping herself from pawing at the ground. "We can't enjoy it unless we do the work, because that's how the season changes. So you and your machine whatever can just...go."
She had no idea who this pony was, but he was a unicorn and a Ponyville non-native, so who knew what sort of shenanigans he could cause by being out of the know?

Post by Braeburn on Mar 20, 2012 8:05:18 GMT -5
Braeburn knew he couldn't be the only one who was bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to wrap up the winter.
He had slept like a baby the night before and had absolutely no problems getting up nice and early to take care of things. The early rising time was something he was used to by now. In fact, it would have been a downright shame if he had not gotten up early. Then he couldn't see the others that may be stumbling around, still sleep-logged and ready to go back to bed. It was just a tad entertaining, even for someone like Braeburn. In the best way possible, of course. Braeburn secured his green vest, looking mighty sharp, and his hat, and set out nearly bouncing with enthusiasm. On the Plant Team, as always.
Now normally Braeburn was on the Seed Planting subteam of the Plant Team. However, this year he had decided to switch things up a little. This year he was on the Plant Tending subteam. Being a farmer, he was adept in both planting and tending said plants. It had been a while since he was the one tending plants, but since it was a skill he had mastered previously, he had no concerns with his progress during the wrap up. All plants needed were a little tender love and care. Plus there was the old family method of talking to the new plants too. Call it silly, but Braeburn seemed to think it really worked. He wasn't one to question an old family method of handling things.
Despite getting up at the crack of dawn, Braeburn still managed to be late. He tried not to let this disappoint him as he noticed the small congregation of others already gathered around in their bright green Plant Team vests. He bounded up, a little out of breath, but all smiles, as per usual. "Howdy, folks!" he chirped, "Sorry I'm late, el capitan." He took a long look at the others already there. Cousin Applejack was there, of course. And Star Charmer, the team captain. Normally an Apple family member was team captain, but it was nice to see someone new take the reins. Blizzard was there too, looking as moody as usual. The rest Braeburn wasn't too familiar with.
Especially this stranger, talking about this new way of plowing. Braeburn didn't know this guy but something about him and his fancy machine didn't set well with ol' Braeburn. He couldn't put finger or hoof on why. Blizzard made a good point. Working was the satisfaction they got out of the wrap up. "Not to be a bother or anything'," Braeburn chimed in, "But I agree with Blizzard. Ain't that kinda cheatin'?" It was an innocent remark. Braeburn most certainly wasn't trying to get on anyone's bad side. Especially not during a grand event like Winter Wrap Up, where team work was essential for efficiency.
(NOTE: just try to ignore the fact that i wrote a novel, alright? alright)

Page was appalled that someone was trying to cheat on Winter Wrap Up. That was exactly what the crazy machine was. Page hated cheaters. So very much.
"I think you ought to take your machine elsewhere. We have no need of it."

Teddy had forgotten about the winter wrap up. Not entirely, of course, because he always knew things were coming up from the calendar he kept up to date, but the night before, he had forgotten that he needed to set an alarm and so this morning, he'd woken up an hour and a half late. He still wasn't entirely used to the Ponyville way of wrapping up winter, but he had been participating sans magic for almost three years and so he was, by now, much more confident.
Still, however, he was late and he barely had time to freshen up before he was racing toward the fields, Aristotle's claws digging into his back as the kitten hung on for dear life. When he finally reached the planting area, he skidded to a stop in front of Blizzard and Braeburn, out of breath.
"SORRYI'MLA--whoa." His eyes turned toward the large machine, widening. He wasn't sure how he'd missed it before. Aristotle, also surprised, slowly slid his nails out of Teddy's back, causing the stallion to wince.
"Hey there," he said to Flim. He thought he might have recognized the pony, but then maybe he'd just wanted to recognize him because he was making such a spectacle of himself. "Isn't that a safety hazard?"

Okay, so this was not going the way that he had expected. Knowing Ponyville was a rather traditional small town, he had sort of expected some resistance. At the same time, he had also expected at least a few people to be interested in the machine on a more positive note. Instead, so far, everyone was accusing him of cheating? He couldn’t see why though. A machine simply helped speed up the process, it was no different from the plows used to till the fields or the snow shovels. It was simply bigger and faster was all. That really wasn’t cheating wasn’t it? And why did “work” have to be the best part of Winter-Wrap up anyway? He knew from experience everyone would prefer a party or festival over work, and this helped speed things up to give time for that. Plus, one person doing the snow plow left everyone else up to being able to do other tasks that they might enjoy more, like the ice-skating or something. About the only criticism he got that he could understand was the safety hazard one, but he knew what he was doing so he doubted that would be an issue.
”My pony friends I can understand your concerns, but I have something to ask? Is using a plough to till the fields cheating, or using a snow shovel to get rid of snow cheating? Undoubtly no it’s not, so what makes this any different? The Flim-Flam brothers are simply trying to help out the best way we can today, and we can do that by providing grade-a quality service at no charge that frees you all up to have a fun party or festival instead of spending all day shoveling snow. At the very least you all can give us newcomers the Ponyville welcome and try, right?”

Blizzard was distrustful of anything new, especially new things that looked complicated. The machine looked like it could easily screw something up where Blizzard knew she would not if she was using her own hooves and willpower to get something done. She doubted this unicorn had ever done any hard work a day in his life.
Even Blizzard knew, however, that her arguments tended to border on emotional rather than logical, so she didn't have too much to say to Flim. Still, she wanted it to be known, if everything got messed up, that she had tried to offer valid opposition.
"Those aren't machines," she said, eyeing his with distaste. "That thing'll probably break and kill everypony."

Teddy eyed the machine with distrust. The unicorn had a point, which Teddy did understand, being somewhat of a newcomer himself, however Teddy had been suffering through the Winter Wrap-Ups with no magic and he felt that this was more difficult for him than it would have been for a pony like this one to not use his machine. In fact, Teddy wondered if the machine was just a guise for magic, since the pony was a unicorn.
"What's that powered by?" he asked, eyeing it.
