Pony's name: Braeburn. Pony's age: Young adult. Probably in his twenties. Type of pony or animal: Earth pony. Pony's cutie mark and special talent: Braeburn's cutie mark is a simple red apple. Seeing as he's from the Apple family, his special talent is farming apples, o'course. Employment: Unknown. Current city: Appleloosa.
Appearance: Braeburn is pretty standard as far as ponyfolk go. Maybe a little small for a stallion, but he makes up for it in personality. Braeburn's coat is a nice light gold, his mane and tail two-toned orange and amber. Square jaw, and just a little muscular. Braeburn's eyes can be described as "pistachio", but to him they're just more of a mucky green. You'll hardly ever see this pony without his signature accessories: a cowboy hat and vest. Gotta have that settler pride.
As a human Braeburn is very much the same. Instead of being gold, human!Braeburn is a bit on the tan side. Comes with the territory of being outdoors so often. Both human!Braeburn and normal pony Braeburn share the long amber/orangish locks and square-ish green eyes. Human!Braeburn is on the slight and short side, and just like pony Braeburn, he never ventures out without his hat.
Personality There are layers to ponies just as there are layers to a lot of other things. Cake, onions, whatever. Braeburn has layers. In fact, he has many. Upon first meeting him, you may notice his energy. Braeburn is very kind and welcoming, if not a little in your face and over-the-top. He's very exuberant and quite talkative; in fact one could say he can talk about a million words per minute, but that might be an over exaggeration. His exuberance is mostly seen in his pride for his settlement, Appleloosa. In fact, his pride can often get annoying. He just thinks Appleloosa is a fantastic place. He, of course, isn't always in your face energy. He has his moments of being laid back and go with the flow. Over all, he's a friendly country boy down at heart.
On the flipside, Braeburn has a one track mind. Sometimes he hardly listens and just goes on and on until you can finally get his attention. Which may or may not happen. Braeburn does horrible under pressure, and even worse when faced by tons of people wanting different things all at once. All the yelling makes him just a teensy bit nervous. He has trouble asserting himself in these situations as well. He would much rather just not be caught in the middle. It's not his idea of a good time. One could call him a doormat, to be completely honest. He isn't afraid to stand up for himself but for the most part he'd rather just allow things to happen.
Braeburn is simplistic in terms of likes and dislikes. He enjoys the same thing most of his Apple family brethern enjoy. That is to say, the apple orchards. (and, by extension, apple pie, because the Apple family makes the best, after all) Braeburn is also pretty fond of the ponyfolk. He isn't, however, very fond of the prejudice Appleloosa had once had against the Buffalo. Or conflict at all, really. He also isn't very fond of complex issues, being a simple sort of guy. However, he's all for innovation. Because even if he doesn't necessarily understand advancements, they're still pretty cool.
Background Braeburn was born on Sweet Apple Acres, as was most of the Apple family. It was obvious from being a young foal what his talent would eventually end up being. After all, there is a reason the Apple family is famous. And it ain't for their oranges. As a little foal, Braeburn was dedicated. In fact, it was his dedication that led to his cutie mark.
Braeburn was not the strongest foal, or the biggest foal. Still, when Apple Bucking season came around, he was all for trying it out. Even as a little tiny foal. Needless to say, it didn't end so well. Not enough leg strength, Braeburn just managed to knock a few apples from the tree. One of them being a nice red one that smacked him right on the noggin. A few moments later, the red apple cutie mark appeared on his flank. And as they say, the rest is history.
When he got up old enough, he became one of the first townsfolk of a settlement called Appleloosa, located quite a far way from Ponyville. Him and a few of the Apple family members moved in hopes of creating a new, grander apple orchard. They founded the town on desert terrain, for some odd reason, and the town seemed to grow almost over night. Things began to advance. They had everything they could have hoped for, and Braeburn was very happy and proud to see his small town of Appleloosa sprout to glory, along with their new, gigantic apple orchard.
However, Braeburn and the other ponies soon found out they had planted their apple trees on ground previously occupied by the neighboring Buffalo. Their stampeding ground, they had said. The Appleloosan settlers had now made themselves some dangerous enemies. The Buffalos asked for the Appeloosans to move the trees, but since there was no where to move them, the Appleloosans said no. Braeburn was not fond the enemyship that came from this, but there was nothing he could do. He was only one pony.
A year after Appleloosa was finished, Braeburn's cousin Applejack came to visit. She reported that she had brought him a tree, but that it had gotten hijacked by the Buffalo along with some of her friends. As the visit progressed, there was more arguing and in the end an all out war, of which Braeburn refused to participate. In the end, the Buffalo and the Appleloosans did come to an agreement, much to Braeburn's delight: the Appleloosans would give the Buffalos apples, and they would all share the land.
Now Braeburn has decided to take a trip back to Ponyville to visit family and see what's changed since he's left.
