Pony's name: Ace Pony's age: 18 years old Type of pony or animal: Unicorn Pony's cutie mark and special talent: His cutie mark is the 4 suits of playing cards - a diamond, a heart, a club and a spade. They represent his uncanny skill in gambling and other such games. Employment: He's a pretty young entrepreneur pony. He runs his own exclusive night club/casino/hotel "Ace of Clubs" in Canterlot but he runs everything from his home residence. Current city: Ponyville, incognito. Nopony knows that he runs a business (except for the elite of Canterlot who are pretty much the only ponies who see him when he visits the casino as the owner.)
Appearance: Additional information to the picture - What you're seeing on Ace is a black business suit. Honest. With a red tie obscured by his hoof with his orange watch.
And he has no human form.
Personality To start off with, Ace loves gambling. Especially playing cards, though you can tell that by his cutie mark (I hope). To be honest he wouldn't be where he is today without gambling. This has, however, made an imprint on his personality - he's willing to bet at anything, even proposing betting in normal conversations. Some call it an addiction, he calls it a passion.
Being a young businessman, Ace is really cautious about how the sales rise or fall and how much money he has. This made him quite frugal so he would very reluctantly spend any more money than he has already planned to spend. He'll normally excuse himself with 'low paying job'.
That's another thing. Ace doesn't want many ponies to know that he runs a very successful business in Canterlot. He normally avoids the topic of his job but if it's forced on him he'd reply with something like 'a small shop in Manehattan' or something similar.
He doesn't have that snobbish attitude of most higher-class Canterlot ponies because he wasn't raised as them. He learnt to talk and behave on their level but wouldn't make it his normal lifestyle. He enjoys the frivolous nature of Ponyvillians, with their partying and... partying and... partying... occasional adventures and interesting happenings. Yeah, he'd rather much be out there than sit behind the desk fill out paperwork all day long. He has ponies for that already.
Ace really likes various games: board games, physical games, he loves playing them. He also really likes sweet foods such as cakes or cupcakes. He really dislikes medicine - even more than young ponies. He hates people who break promises and sometimes dreams about being a mafia boss so those people can pay, though never would actually hurt a living thing. He's a very kind gentlecolt who actually gets on pretty well with others. He's helpful to the elderly, cool with his peers and good with the children.
He'd be a good husband material (or so I think) but the problem lies in that he doesn't really have a type and is overall a large flirt. Yeah, if you're a female he'll probably flirt with you even if he's not planning a serious relationship. That's also a bit of the reason why he tries to live incognito in Ponyville - in Canterlot all the mares were hitting on him, and he couldn't figure out if it was because of the money or just his charm and personality. So he lives like an average pony and wants to see how others would react.
Background Ace's parents were travellers. They had a caravan and travelled with a traveller community. Once they found a nice place to settle, they stopped there. Life was simple for then - hunting for food, making clothes and other things, selling those things and buying stuff from towns. Just usual stuff. Ace travelled with them, at first enjoying the carefree life but a bit later deciding to aim higher.
He was educated at home around his traveller friends. He didn't have the same 'education methods' as other ponies, but he still learnt pretty much the same basic stuff he needed. Maths, magic and all this other stuff that he barely every uses in real life.
Being a traveller was rough. It was like being lower than the lowest of lower class ponies. Like, rock bottom class. Even the normal ponies with low paying jobs looked down at you just for being one of the 'travelling folks'. Ace's first dream was to be able to look down at those ponies.
One day, having a walk outside their camp, Ace found a working orange watch in a bad shape. He returned to his caravan, cleaned it up and wore it. Nopony really had a watch in their camp so that instantly made him like the awesome super guy amongst his peers for a while.
A bit later some outside colts showed up. They weren't big fans of the travellers either, so when no adults were looking they bullied the other colts. Ace didn't like that. He stood up to them as his horn glared with magic ready.
Being earth ponies, the colts knew better than to pick a fight with a unicorn. They did, however, see Ace's watch and insisted that one of them lost it around there. Back then, Ace's business instinct kicked in. He said that there was no identification symbol on the watch so he couldn't tell for sure whose it was but he could sell them the watch for some bits. After bargaining, Ace walked off with a decent amount of money and the bullies with the watch.
After that, his business 'gut feeling' kicked in a lot more. He found junk, bought it, cleaned it up and sold it. After gathering a decent amount he asked his parents to go into town and buy stocks. His profits kicked in even higher and soon they were pretty rich. At that point he was around 13 and had to give his parents an ultimatum - he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a businessman and couldn't manage it from a caravan. He had enough money to buy a house in Canterlot so either he left alone or they came with him. His parents, being too old to wish to change their lifestyle expressed the desire to stay but wished him luck in his career. He stayed in contact them and frequently sent them money after that.
When he lived in his house, he gave himself up to work. He managed his money, bought stock and sold stuff, yet at this rate it would take him a lot of time to go higher. He had to do something else, more risky and profitable than any money raising tactic he tried earlier. Gambling and betting (underground of course, else nopony would allow a 15 year old stallion to play).
He quickly understood the rules of various games such as poker and blackjack. he focused mainly on them, sometimes gaining and sometimes losing large sums of money (but mostly gaining).
It came as an epiphany a bit later (17 years of age) that the most profiting pony of any casino was its owner. It relied on knowing the probability of victory and giving the players a fake sense of security so they could spend all of their money believing that they had the upper hand. It gave Ace a simple idea - make a casino.
Half of the entire profits of his life was spent on the creation of the casino - hotel - night club combo "Ace of Clubs", so it was a move beyond risky. It did, however, work out. A few referrals to the upper class ponies by his friends and the business grew into one of the most well known hotspots in Canterlot. His money amounts grew and grew, investments doubled and tripled. Ace's dream was beyond completion.
But something was missing.
That thrill of adventure and fun when he was a traveller, that carefree life called out for him. He didn't have real friends anymore, just mares and stallions wishing to get a piece of his fortune. They agreed with his every word and followed his every move and it just... annoyed him.
Leaving the job of running the place and contacting him to his servant Tombstone, Ace set out to catch some more life before it slipped away. He chose Ponyville as he heard of all the crazy stuff that happened there. It seemed perfect.
By pure chance, he bumped into an earth pony on his travel, an earth pony with an orange watch. They recognised each other. The earth pony apologised for his immaturity when he was a colt and Ace proposed something to him - he'd pay him 500 bits for that old orange watch. The earth pony wasn't really that attached to it, so he agreed without question.
Why would Ace want an old orange watch you might ask? It was a trophy. A trophy showing off his huge business success which started with finding that watch and ended in re-claiming it.
Now he lives in a rented house in Ponyville. He doesn't really 'work' anywhere there but volunteers to help out a lot for free.
Anything else you'd like to add: Hide yo' mothers, hide yo' sisters and hide yo' daughters 'cause he's hitting on a lot of ladies out there.
