Appearance:
Prince Blueblood is dashing, handsome, the epitome of princely princeness in all of Canterlot. A young stallion, he has a pure-white coat with grey hooves, and his coat is always perfectly groomed. His mane is blonde, long, and handsome, going from the top of his head to down past his shoulder blades, plus bangs. His tail is the same golden blonde, and is perfectly groomed and straightened out. His eyes are an icy blue, handsomely situated with eyebrows for maximum impact of all emotions. And of course his build is strong and large to get the sense of security and safety, but small enough to still be graceful and charming. Add in some roses and the propensity to wear tuxes and bowties, and you have the mix for the look of the perfect prince charming.
Personality
At first glance, Prince Blueblood seems to be the perfect prince charming of every pony’s dream. He appears suave and charming, and handsome as well. And if you only met him for just a short period of time, he even acts with it, speaking with a suave voice that sounds polite yet hypnotic at the same time. In public appearances, he is refined and formal, but at the same time a little flirty with all the lady-ponies to just give him that slight hint of devilish charm. So as said, he is the perfect prince charming…in public.
In reality, Prince Blueblood is spoiled rotten. Being born royal, he has been waited on hoof on hoof for his entire life, and so expects everypony to treat him in such a manner. His entire world view is centered on himself and for himself. He tends to ignore the needs and desires of other ponies while expecting them to care for his, even for something as simple as opening a door or handing over a rose. In many ways, he simply just doesn’t seem to think of other ponies as actual ponies to care and respect, but simply servants or tools for his own pleasure and comfort to use.
Of course, with a sheltered upbringing, Blueblood is also rather snobbish and tends to look down on lower-class ponies and their culture, sometimes purposeful (such as insulting their commoner’s food) or accidental, such as pitying them or being amazed by their “abilities” that he didn’t think commoner’s were capable of. Yet at the same time, he overestimates their capabilities, such as asking them to pay for stuff even when he, obviously, should be capable of paying for it himself. He’s also a rather prissy stallion, and is terrified of getting dirty (as seen in his using of Rarity as a shield from cake), chipping his hoof, or any other kind of dirtiness or pain or any other discomfort.
To be fair to the stallion, however, he isn’t intentionally a pompous jerk; it’s an issue of upbringing and ignorance. After the events at the Grand Gala and Rarity chewing him out, Blueblood is trying to be more conscious of his behavior to try and rectify it (and forced to with being sent to Ponyville). However, old behavior is hard to kill, and personality even harder. It’s going to be a long, long, long, long, long, long process of turning this shadow of a prince into a real prince charming.
Background
Prince Blueblood is the greatx…okay, it’s not really known how far back he is related to the Princesses (current genealogies suggest about 52 times removed), but somewhere back in time his family line became involved with the family line of Celestia and Luna. This technically makes him a nephew of some sorts to them. This suggests that his name of “Prince” is just that, his name. Officially, he’s a “Duke”, but Prince is just such a more charming name.
Prince Blueblood himself is the heir to a long line of an aristocratic family that, while not really ruling anything, still maintains its wealth and social status. Born into wealth, he was pampered from birth like any good son of an aristocratic family should be. With wealth, servants, and a fancy mansion to live in, it seemed as if Prince Blueblood had everything a pony could want. The only thing he was missing, of course, were real friends, not servants paid to bend at his every whim. This lead to him growing up a selfish, spoiled colt, believing everything was for his own amusement and that only his own needs mattered.
In the meantime, he went to all the social events with his family, integrating into upper-class society. As he grew up, he soon became the upcoming bachelor stallion, and a prince-charming idol amongst ponies all around Equestria. He of course enjoyed the attention and the flattery the title brought him, but all it did was continue to boost his own ego and sense of self-entitlement. He pretty much became two-faced by this point; charming and suave in public, snobbish and self-centered in private. Such disconnect, of course, could not last for long. Things eventually came to a head one night at the Grand Galloping Gala, where he met the fair lady Rarity.
She came up to him of course, and he spent most of the evening with her. In doing so, Rarity finally found out about the disconnect between his public appearances and his actual behavior. He of course failed to notice how angered she was getting until the end of the night, where the giant cake was flung towards him. Without thinking, he used her as a shield from the cake. After doing so, he got the full frontal assault of the mare’s wrath, eventually finding himself covered in cake after being chewed out for the only real time in his entire life. And he never saw her again.
After the night of the Gala, Prince Blueblood began to try and think over what had happened that night. No one had ever gotten that mad at him before after all, so what happened? Over the next several weeks, Blueblood began to try and reflect on that event, trying to figure out what it was that the mare was trying to tell him. Eventually a small revelation hit, that he was a bit of a…jerk. But he wasn’t satisfied; he had to know more, and he wanted to know why this Rarity had not fallen for him like every other pony. Staying around in his mansion was not enough, and so he did something daring; he asked to stay in Ponyville. Some time in a small, backwards little village would help him figure out the events of that night, wouldn’t it? At the very least, he could bring some style and charm to that quant little village while on his little quest.
But apparently, his own family had decided on a similar plan for a while, and were joyed he was thinking the same thing. And then they revealed their own plan; they were going to cut him off for the time being. After embarrassing the whole Blueblood family name that night, the family was becoming a bit of a laughingstock in upperclass society. That’s what it took for the family to realize they may not have raised the boy right, and so Ponyville would serve as a proving ground for him. No money, no servants, and no mansion. They were going to pay just enough for him to live in an inn, by some “commoner’s food”, and that was that. Anything else, and he’d need….A JOB.
This is going to be…difficultunderstatement of the century
Anything else you'd like to add:
Prince Blueblood's entire schtick is being, well, a prince charming. And so, his magic is well suited for enhancing his beauty and charm, allowing him to create some special effects like lighting or wind, adding a little sparkle to him, and of course grooming himself.
